Bug - Error message on Boot Up with LiveCD

Postby RobK » Mon Jan 01, 2007 9:48 pm

When I boot up the LiveCD, I see the following error / warning message just before I see the Desktop:

"There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.
Some settings such as themes, sounds or background settings may not work correctly.

The last error message was:
Activation of org.gnome.settingsDaemon timed out.
...."

Hmm... I see the blue theme and I hear sounds. Very strange message.

I am running Bea on an IBM T41 Thinkpad Laptop (with a P4 chip).

I do not see this message when using the Ubuntu Edgy Eft LiveCD. Why is Bea giving me this message?

Any ideas on what may be happening?

If it helps: I get that error when running Mint within Qemu... but not in VMWare, and not on my real computers... I guess it's some incompatibility with some of your hardware... the tricky thing that I don't understand is why doesn't Edgy do that as well...
