Installing with seperate home partition

Postby gollum1971 » Sat Oct 06, 2007 8:14 pm

Hi Minties.

I followed the excellent guide to making my home folder a separate partion.

Now please forgive me for my ignorance, but how do i install a new Linux mint whilst leaving my home partition intact ?

Thanks in advance

Aiden

In the partitioning section of the setup: Go for 'manual partitioning'. Select the partition which will contain your " / " filesystem and here make sure it will be formatted. Then select your /home partition ... but here make sure it doesn't get formatted. That's it. If you selected the same username as before you should instantly get your old settings back (e-mails, files, desktop settings ....) upon first login.
