Start without x!

Post by danielninja »

Hi, i would like to know how i could start de computer without the x. For exemple, in slackware you always star in "temrinal" mode and then you have to do "startx" to have a graphic mode. I would like to do it in linux mint.
Thanks

I know this works on Debian, but I haven't tested on Mint/Ubuntu:

Code: Select all

sudo chmod -x /etc/init.d/gdm
To restore:

Code: Select all

sudo chmod +x /etc/init.d/gdm
Note: this only works with Gnome
