i have been a mint user for 2 yrs...recently i hav moved to unity<since january>.i was enjoying ubuntu untill now but when i installed fedora 15 beta,i expected to have ubuntu option in the grub loader but it was not there!! i installed both the bootloader in a single drive...its better if i can somehow retore ubuntu's bootloader and have fedora option in it instead of vice versa

i adore mint forum a lot...so kinda dont wanna feel moving to other distro forums...i hope to get help here as people of linux community are always being so generous :)

Hi,
Fedora does things a little different than Mint or Ubuntu. In Fedora's version of grub they hide the menu items . you'll have edit the file /etc/grub.conf in fedora to show other
installed Operating systems. I don't have fedora install at the moment so don't remember the exact line that needs to be changed. But it will be something like Menu_hidden
simply place a # sign in front of that line (you'll have to be root to do this) and save the file , reboot and the menu should show on boot , ubuntu and anyother installed os's should be there

yes, that one is called

hiddenmenu

1. just comment it if you want the rest of OS to show permanently.
care should be taken when Fedora has kernel upgrade, this hiddenmenu may be back into the menu.lst.

2. without editing menu.lst, you can always hit shift key when grub starts ( within the time out periods), the rest of OS will show also.
