I'm able to run it from the live cd but haven't fixed the wifi yet.
Should I fix it while running the live cd or after the install ?

I want to partition using ext2, and not to use a swap partition. This will cut down on write cycles to the Eee and make the flash memory last longer. Can someone confirm that I can run without swap with 512mb ram and how do I not create a swap partition ?

Since I only have 4GB, how much space does a fresh install of Mint take ?

Any advise would be most welcome.

Your decisions seem reasonable. Perhaps you should try the Fluxbox beta?
My Mint installations are between 2.7 and 4.1 GB in size (home excluded)
It will run on 512 MB (but not 512 mb - there's a difference between major and minor letters here ) but can be expected to run into problems occasionally.
Just skip the swap - I don't know if it's added anyway, but then you could remove it after install

I found a Kaser MiniVault 4GB at BestBuy for 25$ cdn online. It's actually a mini USB 2 hdd so I can install with a swap partition without worries.

This way I can keep the Xandros installed on the internal flash drive, install Mint to the Kaser and use a 2GB SD card for removable storage.
