Onenote on linux/alternative

Postby dan_me » Thu Apr 06, 2017 8:33 am

The only way I can find to use onenote on linux Mint is using it in the browser.
Is there a better way, or is there an alternative which I can also use on an ipad?

I recommend CherryTree.

The two programs I use for note-taking CherryTree and TreeLine. I use Cherrytree for general note-taking, and it is what I use most frequently. TreeLine organizes information in fields, much like a database, and it is what I use to when I need to organize information in a consistent format.

I think this will be your biggest obstacle. Simplenote (https://simplenote.com/) might be a solution. I have not used it, so I cannot tell you what to expect.

I use Cherry Tree for note taking too.
I also use RedNotebook for journalling.

Thank you for your suggestions. I think I will just continue to use the browser version of oneNote for now. There just doesn't seem to be a good multi platform alternative at the moment.

CherryTree supports multi-platform (Linux & Windows).

I use Evernote and the NixNote client (http://nixnote.org/). It works well and I can share date between my Linux laptop, Win10 desktop and Android phone.

Depending on your needs, it might do the job.

I cannot access the Onenote web page using Firefox on Linux Mint (cookies are enabled). The web page is blank. In contrast, I can access the Onenote web page using Firefox on my W10 machine.

What am I doing wrong in the Linex Mint Firefox environment?

Hoser Rob:

Thanks! The thread you linked suggested that I access Onenote through the Onedrive web interface, and that worked for me. I am somewhat committed to Onenote, since I have been using it extensively for several years.
