Looking for a calendar app

Postby Arp » Wed Sep 13, 2017 5:36 am

Hi guys,

I'm running Linux Mint 17.3 / 18.2 with cinnamon and I am looking for a calendar app with the following possibilities:

I use the Samsung calendar app on my phone, and I think it also synchronizes with my gmail account on it. So I would like the desktop app to synchronize with my gmail account. Further, I would like some kind of desktop integration, like showing upcoming appointments as a overlay of some kind, or at least a clear notification in the taskbar. I do not want some addon for thunderbird or something like that.

Can you recommend something?

Thank you!

I am not looking for google results, I am looking for recommendations. Personal experience.

And if you would have read the post and read your results, you would see that basically all of them refer to email synchronization, something I explicitly wrote that I do not want.

No, you did not. You said that you would like the desktop app to synchronize with your gmail account. That does not translate to 'no email synchronization please'.

I can't help you either, but I hope you find what you're looking for.

Rainlendar seems to fulfill my needs, although google calendar integration requires the pro version which is not free.

If you are using Firefox, there is an extension called Lightning that works very well. I haver been using it for a couple of years.

Lamar

I'm using the Lightning extension in Thunderbird and it works quite well. Perhaps worth a try?

Code: Select all

revian@revian-laptop1 ~ $ apt-cache search lightning | grep Thunderbird
xul-ext-lightning - Calendar Extension for Thunderbird
Operating within normal parameters
Check out my new desktop themes
