Intermittent internet issues...
I am having a curious internet issue. I believe it began when I updated to kernal 5.8.0 -53 (LM 20 Cinnamon), but I am not certain. Everything is fine when I initially boot up. I can access the internet with no issues. However, after a while, I will simply lose internet connectivity. It is as though the system "timed out", for lack of a better explanation. Also, it isn't the WIFI. I can still access my router from my laptop, and it indicates that the internet is functioning. (Streaming to my television isn't interrupted, either.) I can go to the console and the status of my vpn seems to be active, but I cannot run the ookla speedtest. The problem is easily fixed, though. I simply have to reboot and everything returns to normal. Unfortunately, if I am doing anything on-line when it happens, everything is lost and I have to start from the beginning. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Re: Intermittent internet issues...
sleeper12, Thanks. That is useful information. I am going to wait for it to happen again, and then try changing the VPN servers (there were a couple of Nordvpn updates in the past week, or so), and if that doesn't solve the problem, I'll try moving the encryption from the Atheros chip to the software. Thanks a lot! Slainte!
Re: Intermittent internet issues...
The problem has not resolved itself. Apparently, it isn't associated with the VPN nor with the Atheros wireless chipset. If the computer sits for any length of time on a single page, I lose internet. WIFI continues to function (I can access the router) and the router continues to provide an internet connection for my phone and TV. Any other thoughts? Also, other than restoring my settings from the last Timeshift set, is there any way to return the Atheros settings to the original? Thanks to all. Slainte!
