Hard to say without more details. Can you post the results of this command:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz && rfkill list && iwconfig && mokutil --sb-state

Without seeing more details, I can only guess. So, check iwconfig
If it shows power management is On, turn it Off with:

Code: Select all

 sudo sed -i 's/3/2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
Reboot

I'm going to assume you are using wireless. Can you try a wired connection as a test? I wonder what brand and model NIC you are using?

Can you please supply some information about your hardware and install by running the commands which have already been requested. We are not able to help you if you do not provide information.

sleeper12 has already requested you provide the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrz && rfkill list && iwconfig && mokutil --sb-state
I do not see where you have done that.

To start with, you are using an unsupported version of Linux Mint. Secondly, you need to enlarge your / partition:
Drives: HDD Total Size: NA (-)
ID-1: /dev/mmcblk0 model: N/A size: 31.3GB serial: N/A
ID-2: /dev/mmcblk1 model: N/A size: 15.7GB serial: N/A
Partition: ID-1: / size: 7.8G used: 6.4G (87%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/mmcblk0p5
ID-2: swap-1 size: 2.05GB used: 0.00GB (0%) fs: swap dev: /dev/mmcblk0p6
In accordance with the installation instructions, 30Gb should be allocated to the / partition.

This is why I always recommend to Linux beginners to not mess with manual partitioning and just let Linux mint handle it...be it during the install or even after.

If you need more storage, save up the cash and just buy more storage. It's cheap enough these days.

As you can guess i am not a techy, i loaded linux as windows takes up to much memory for an asus notebook, i use a 16gb mini flash drive which holds operating system, when using 18 version for a number of years it was fine, i upgraded to 20 because i was getting the wi fi drop out issue when changing web pages to see if would solve the issue. It sounds like no obvious solution that i am capable of so i imagine its curtains for linux and me.

Did you mean to say Linux Mint 20? You were on Linux Mint 18.3 earlier in this topic.

If you are stuck in a login loop (you put in the correct password and it keeps coming back to the login screen), then try the advice in this post.
