When I turn laptop it start to makes noise like a vacuum cleaner.
I close the lid and noise is gone. I open the lid and again make noise.
I took the computer to TWO service centers. And they asked me that no problem with hardware.
They advise me to update drivers or smt like this. E.g. drivers for video card. Or maybe need update BIOS.

I did the next test. I installed on my laptop the Windows 10. And no noise. Never.
But when I used Linux Mint 21 then it make noise.

It's probably the fan making the noise. Possibly because the heat sinks are clogged with dust. A clean out might also improve the situation.

I am aware of that, it's still worth investigating.

As I was said before TWO INDEPENDENT service centers said me that NO problems with hardware. Hardware work just fine.

So, as result I suppose that has problem with software: drivers, BIOS or smt like this.

Hi,

From its manufacturer specifications, your computer has two graphics display:
Capture du 2022-10-07 17-36-52.png
Intel UHD 630 (integrated graphics chipset) and Nvidia Ge Force GTX 1650.

When it is used on Windows, it probably uses Nvidia Optimus technology: Intel UHD 630 is used as 2D display, and when it is necessary, GTX 1650 is used for 3D display or for some computation (OpenCL, Cuda etc.).

In Linux, to change from Intel 630 to GTX 1650 or back is a manual change that you with Nvidia Panel.

However, it seems in your inxi output that your Intel 630 card is not detected: you constantly use the GTX 1650, with higher power and higher heat, so your fans constantly work at their maximum.

Linux Mint uses prime-applet to facilitate this manual change, see https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_ulyana_ma ... ailable%20.

You should install "nvidia-prime" and "nvidia-prime-applet" in Synaptic. After installation your Nvidia settings should have a new setting allowing to manually change from GTX 1650 to UHD 630, and you could select in your menu the way you want applications are launched, with GTX 1650 or UHD 630.

Also note that, as per Nvidia drivers search, your GTX 1650 mobile should use 515 family driver (latest is 515.76), and not the 470.141 that is installed.

So, install latest 515.x driver, install nvidia-prime and nvidia-prime-applet, change your video card to Intel UHD 630 and check if that fixes your fans noise problem.

Regards,

MN

I installed nvidia-prime" and "nvidia-prime-applet"

"After installation your Nvidia settings should have a new setting allowing to manually change from GTX 1650 to UHD 630, and you could select in your menu the way you want applications are launched, with GTX 1650 or UHD 630."

And now how I could select it?

Have you tried using a different version of Mint. This laptop was hopeless using Mint 21 Cinnamon but on Mint 21 Mate its perfect. Should add it does not have an nvidia card but my older laptop which has an nvidia card and worked fine with LMDE4 would not work at all with LMDE5, simply kept freezing.

With regards to fan noise when using Windows 10 the fan was on all the time and at high speed for much of the time. With Mint Mate you barely hear the fan at all, starts up and stops almost immediately when you load up certain programmes such as Libre Office and Chromium.

Hi,

Have you rebooted after installing nvidia-prime? If not, do it (UHD 630 driver is in the kernel).

Please post again the output of your "inxi -Fxxxrz"; it should now show UHD 630 and GTX 1650 graphics devices.

If this is the case, you have in your Nvidia settings there is a new tab "PRIME profiles" available allowing to choose between profiles:
Image

You can also launch an application using Nvidia GPU, as shown in the URL I gave you (at least, on Cinnamon; what is your desktop environment, Cinnamon, Mate or XFCE? it should appear in your inxi report, and it is not indicated iyn your output):
Image

If your "inxi -Fxxxrz" output still shows only Nvidia GTX 1650 as only GPU, then your Intel UHD 630 is still not recognized. In Synaptic, install 515 Nvidia drivers (nvidia-utils-515 package) and check again.

Regards,

MN

Why Linux Mint 21 Mate is better then Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon for my laptop?
