Hi All

I have come over to Linux Mint 12 Lisa AMD64x from Ubuntu 10.04, and am loving it.

I have the Kernel 3.0.0-12, and am unsure if this is the latest,

2 questions
- do new kernels come through regularly in Mint as they did in Ubuntu. If not how do you update to the latest kernels, is it via the repository? Have posted a snapshot of my repository.

- and when running update manager it is unbeleiveably slow checking updates particularly from "archive.ubuntu.oneiric" like about 16kb/s is this normal my link is 5.5mb/s

Thanks in advance

There is not such a thing as a "stupid question"

Click on the mint update icon , go to edit, then preferences and check level 5 updates to enable them. After that, the available Kernel updates will appear. You can always update the kernel through the Synaptic package manager as well.

You can try this to grab the latest 3.3.6 http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=40185
It won't remove your current kernel so you can always fall back if it (for some reason) doesn't work.
