Gimp 2.8 for the repositories?

Post by lotharjade »

How long do you think it will likely be till Gimp 2.8 shows up in the repositories? Is it likely they will skip Maya repositories for the next version?
Have you tried turning it off and on again, then hitting it repeatedly? :/

[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.

Unfortunately there's not a PPA with Gimp 2.8 yet. Mint 14 will have 2.8 or a later version indeed.

Edit: There is a PPA. https://launchpad.net/~otto-kesselgulasch/+archive/gimp

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
Then you can open the updater (shield-like icon in the tray)
The PPA page says it may break your system in ubuntu 11.10 on which Mint 12 is based - I'd do this only on Mint 13.
