Chromium opening pdf in Gimp when system default is Document

Post by crainey69 »

Hi all,

First, I'm running Mint 13 with Mate. When I first set it up, Chromium would open .pdf files in Document Viewer but somewhere along the line I used Gimp to open one and it ended up as default somehow. I changed the system wide default back to Document Viewer and when I double click in a folder, they do open in Document Viewer but when I try to open one from within Chromium, it opens in Gimp.

I've done some Google searching on this as well as searching the forums and haven't found a solution. Can anyone help? Perhaps I missed a forum post on this?

Thanks!

You probably need to change the application in chrome itself, though as I don't use it I can't tell you where.
[Edit] your original post and add [SOLVED] once your question is resolved.

Thanks but it has no option to change. There is an option in the menu to clear auto-open options but it's grayed out and unavailable.

I too had this happen. This is what cured it for me.(I`m no expert mind you.)
Right click a PDF file >properties >4th tab `open with`
that gave me two options >document viewer and >gimp
I selected `document viewer` and removed the `gimp` option.
If it works for you too, I claim no credit, I read it somewhere.

[edit] I`ve got a head like a sieve. this thread solved it for me

Thanks the other thread fixed it for me. I'm not sure how I missed that when I searched.

I had the same one. See my review on this problem. I've tried to reveal some options to solve.
