Installing gfire from the repos is working fine but why do i get an error if i double click the newest
.deb-package from the file manager...

apparently gdebi is giving you the necessary info: to use that version of pidgin-gfire you need libnotify1 equal or above 0.5.0 (check in synaptic if you can get that library with that version number)

It's running fine now. But i installed it directly from synaptic. Thanks
