[SOLVED] Gmail Offline in Maya (LinuxMint 13)

Post by wmeler » Fri Aug 24, 2012 3:51 pm

Is there any way to get my gmail offline? Do I need any applications to do this? If so, which do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I've only tried Evolution(gnome) and it imported from Gmail smoothly. Mozilla/Thunderbird is popular too.

this makes it sound like you want to check your email without a connection to the web, this is of course not possible. However if you want to use pop3 to download your email to your pc to read later, then yes either of those programs will work with gmail. thunderbird is easiest to setup, but if you have ever used MS outlook, and like the calendar and all that, Evolution would be better. just my $0.02 now i'm off to bed

good luck

first off... yes, i meant to use POP. second, thanks for the helpful replies about the two apps.

third... i assume that those apps allow me to respond offline and then go online and sync with the server later?

thanks again everyone.

As of today, I kind of prefer Evolution, but it's really slow compared to Thunderbird. Other ideas?

Also note that it in Chromium you can download gmail for offline use.

Also, my loyalties have switched in Thunderbird 15. Much better than Evolution for offline use, though I still like the Evolution calendar better.
