Failed to fetch... [SOLVED]

I know I'm not the first to get this, I've read several threads of others having the same thing but I don't want to do anything rash without asking. These sources have been giving a fail to fetch error for roughly a month now, do they just not exist any more? Should I remove them from my sources list? And for future reference, how would I troubleshoot this... like what steps do I take to find out if the repos are needed, or no longer exist, or are just temporarily down. Thanks in advance

for future reference the best way to troubleshot issues like this is to go directly to launchpad home page https://launchpad.net/ and in the search box look for the ppa in question: this here is adamkoczur gives you a page like this https://launchpad.net/+search?field.text=adamkoczur ; second result is relevant for our query because gtk1.2 is also in the error message; if we go to that page https://launchpad.net/~adamkoczur/+archive/gtk1.2 we see that the last build was 86 weeks ago (so this tells us that this ppa is no longer maintained) and the releases supported are maverick, lucid and karmic
