unable to install 32 bit libs in Nadia_64

Post by groggin »

hi everyone
i'm trying to install lightscribe, am familiar with the path, as i've done it a few times in both 32 and 64 bit environments, and the first step is those 32 bit librarys.
terminal output:

Code: Select all

groggin@xxxxxxxxxxxTA790GX-128M ~ $ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs
[sudo] password for groggin:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
ia32-libs : Depends: ia32-libs-multiarch but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
is there a workaround?
thanks

I had this problem as well. For me, I was unable to solve it except through a reinstallation.

I noticed that reinstallation would work when I was working inside a vm which did not have the same problem as the host even though they were running the same version OS.

I would confirm the problem by re-downloading the iso and installing it in a VM. If the vm has the same problem then we can hunt for a work around, if it doesnt, there was a problem during the install
