With the terminal, you can write

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
apt-cache show <packagename>

and it will list it's dependencies. If there's any of the dependencies you miss, it will download those too.

Sorry, I should have been more explicit, for example there are these options in Daryna
XFCE Community Edition BETA 008 XFCE CD 682MB
miniKDE Edition KDE CD 687MB
Main Edition Gnome CD 688MB
Light Edition Gnome CD 628MB
KDE Community Edition KDE DVD 1.0GB
Fluxbox Community Edition BETA 028 Fluxbox CD 513MB
Debian Edition ALPHA 023 Gnome CD 695MB

That's fine and dandy but is there a way to know what's inside in each one of those before downloading?
Which version of python? Is there gcc or is it left out as it was in Hardy Heron?

P.S. oooops on the line about gcc and Hardy Heron, no coffee on this side of the brain resulted in a malfunction

Aah, I see. Well, for the official releases you could check out Mint's entry at distrowatch; http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=mint
The light-edition is the same, just without the codecs.

For the CE-editions you have to check out for yourself at those specific parts of this forum.
