Multiple instances of programs in "open with" menu?

Hi all,

I've been meaning to post about this for a while but other stuff got in the way.

Basically, it looks like however many times I've EVER opened certain programs, it has left behind an instance of itself in the right-click> "open with">other application, list.

Image

You can't see them all in this screenshot, but I currently have:

65 instances of Irfanview

34 Microsoft Office Access

and doubles of:

notepad
wordpad
2007 MS office component
brasero
fspot
winebrowser

Is there a way I can get to a file & cull out some of these- or stop it from happening in the first place? None of the programs listed behave badly- all work fine.

Mint 9, running on i7-930/1TB HDD/Radeon 5770, all updates to date.

Either I'm the only one on the planet- or others haven't noticed?

Bump...

I also observed the same problem. I see several instances of the program when I select open with. I am using Linux Mint 16 32 Bit Cinnamon edition.

Thanks for the reply...I knew there had to be others. Idk, maybe I use the "open-with" menu more than others, so they aren't aware of it?

I'd still have to think that there's a place to edit the extra/duplicate entries? I've gone to the locations others have cited, but it doesn't have a fix/apply to this issue.

If you find one, please reply back?

Cheers
