VirtualBox sharing

Postby MagnusB » Sun May 25, 2008 3:51 pm

How can share files from my guest OS (XP) to my host OS (Elyssa)? The other way around I just used ISO files and mounted them, since I didn't got the shared folders to work...

Hi MagnusB,

Well shared folders should work perfectly fine, I use them here without any problems at all ?
What version of VB are you using ?
Did you get any error messages ?

There is another way, which I also use ... it involves creating a Samba server on the HOST and then connecting to the Samba server from the
windows XP/VIsta guest.

To install Samba on the HOST use the following command in a terminal :

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install samba

Once installed, you will need to configure your Samba server, the details are here : viewtopic.php?f=150&t=12644#p78658

Hope this helps !

Mike.

Thanks, but I figured it out, I didn't have to use shared folders at all, as it was only a few files that needed sharing in the first place I used an internet service (school thingy called It's Learning).
