LibreOffice Writer awfully slow

Postby sherab » Tue Mar 12, 2013 1:37 pm

Hello everybody,

I just installed Nadia XFCE on my Samsung NC-10 Netbook and I just love it.
There is just one problem: my libreoffice writer is quite slow, and non-reactive. Is this normal ? Other programs or videos work just fine.

Any wisdom ?

Thanks for your help

My System: Linux Mint Nadia XFCE, Samsung NC-10, 1GB memory

I find it fine, however whenever I get a slower response from an application; I assign more RAM to it, if I have enough RAM to do so OS + Application settings..
--will also depend on the content/format of the files and possibly the number of embedded fonts (number of type fonts being used in the document), as well as images, as well as the size of the file (possibly matching the number of pages in it, but obviously not an exact match, since any page could be different from any other !)
These types of content tend to slow down any word processor ... ibreoffice

Also I would say 1GB of RAM isn't a lot; enough for basic web work, email, messaging and some streaming with the built-in graphics engine, but would be fairly slow on larger applications, such as CAD (computer aided design) or video/sound editors for example.
