Now it has happened twice since I installed mint 13 two weeks ago. When it happens, nemo seems to be working alright except that I cannot select any file or folder with mouse click!!
update:
i've switched to gnome3 because of that. but this morning the same problem happened in nautilus! left click has no effect. right click working all right.
update:
problem persists even after switching to KDE!

Seems the mint forum isn't really responsive.
Now I still do not know exactly what problem is, but fortunately I found the solution.
It seems to be a problem with the driver, of either my mouse or my clickpad.
Whenever the mouse click becomes problematic, simply use my touchpad once. A simple touchpad touch or click will make the mouse work properly again! How wierd!
And now there's another problem with fcitx not functioning. Sometimes when I activate fcitx, it pretends to be working but actually is not. Then I tap the touchpad once. After that, it works!
