iCall 7 Ubuntu Linux will not run in Mint 14 MATE

Post by FurryBitz »

Hello,

I have just switched over from windows 7 to Linux Mint 14 MATE. Considering the previous, I'm a Linux/UNIX noob. However, I do posses some technical savvy and can navigate terminal and most features pretty easily.

Now, I have downloaded iCall-linux32.run. Right clicked, gave it permission to run as a program. The installer opens and asks me where to install. I choose to install in my home folder as listed as default (could that be an issue?). It finishes the install and asks me if I want to run iCall to which I say "Yes" and nothing happens. I get absolutly no GUI for iCall. As far as I can tell there is no process running for iCall in the process list using terminal.

Is this program not working because, simply, this was made for Ubuntu Linux and will not work in Mint? Or because I installed it in the home folder? I'm lost here folks.

In the meantime here is my system information:

Have an open request pending with support at iCall. Was hoping someone else could shed some light on this in the meantime.

You could try launching it from a terminal and see what errors you get.
