Problems with Update LM <SOLVED>

Postby mdan1 » Wed Jun 19, 2013 7:33 pm

Hi my system update suddenly started giving errors yesterday. Anyone seen this before or have an idea on how to deal with it? Running LM15 Mate 32bit

ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR###ERROR
E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/packages.linuxmint.com_dists_olivia_import_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Tried to run sudo apt-get update and recieved this error at the end.

Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/packages.linuxmint.com_dists_olivia_import_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

Any help for a noob would be appreciated. Hope I included enough info to make sense.
Thanks,
Dan

Open Software Sources from the menu, click the Maintenance button and there click the Fix MergeList Issue button. That will fix this.

Same issue, Software Manager would just not open after entering the password. This fix worked for me.

sudo sed -i '/^deb http:\/\/packages.medibuntu.org*/d' /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list
