Has anyone got Zattoo TV player ( working in Mint 5?

If so, can you share the secret?

What problem are you having?

I just installed it on Elyssa and works fine.

That's strange.

I downloaded the .deb file from Zattoo's download page and installed it. Zattoo appears in the menu under Sound and Video but clicking it produces nothing.

Opening a Terminal and typing zattoo_player produces:

13:30:55 19/06/08 [MSG] Current locale is en_GB.UTF-8
13:30:55 19/06/08 [MSG] Welcome to Zattoo (
13:30:55 19/06/08 [MSG] Further log messages will be written to /home/tony/.Zattoo/Data/logs/zattoo.debuglog

The zattoo.debuglog is empty - so no clues there.

Attempting to start zattoo using sudo produces:

(process:10377): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.16.3/gobject/gtype.c:2248: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function
(process:10377): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed
(process:10377): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

I'm in no way an expert or even intermediate at this stuff but could you check if you have "g++" and "make" installed in synaptic.

Also you did download the Ubuntu 8.04 version of zattoo?

That's done the trick - many thanks!

It turned out that make was installed, but not g++.

It now works fine :D
