Ten minutes into a fresh boot of this OS and ...
Really?...
How does mint remain the most popular distro? I just don't get it.
With every new release, it slows down and more problems appear.
As soon as I booted the live disk, I had an issue. I simply tried to
change the wallpaper and clicked on the one I most liked and then
clicked OK. Wha?? No?? Ok... so I will try it again... There... it
worked. Yep, each and every time I tried to change the wallpaper I
had to click the chosen one and click OK twice before it would
change.
I then tried moving the firefox start-up icon from the menu to the
main panel and NOPE! tried a few different ways that easily work
in other distros, but nope... not in mint. Only thing that was simple
was to add it to the right side of the panel where NO ONE is used
to it being! I want it on the left where it SHOULD be!
Then the other thing that erks me and cannot figure WHY they did it
is WHY the KDE people put the dektop folder ON the desktop
rather than the desktop itself being the folder. I want my desktop to
be the folder! Not a folder on a folder. YUCK! I mean, I used to
love KDE and still like it, but there are some things that I feel are
ridiculous. And the main menu... STOP trying to copy windows!!
I HATE that vista-like menu! I always change it to the classic tho
I like the custom mint menu better.
Which leads me to my next gripe... WHY does Mint not put hardly
any time into the KDE version? It's like ahhh... just brand the stupid
GUI and throw it out there for all the little KDE chumps.
Great.
Now, for the Default Desktop Settings in the right mose click menu.
Yah... desktop settings to me means ALL settings for the desktop!
Not JUST the wallpaper and a mouse. MOUSE? should that be in
the control panel under periferals?? That's not part of the desktop.
But my other distro is Zorin 7 and I've got to say that it is MUCH
better than any MINT distro and I know they're not perfect either,
but I deal with the issues due to it being the best one out of all the
other crappy distros.
Plus, don't forget... Mint sends your data to google every 15 minutes??
Well, that's it for now... but hey... I just got started! I'm sure I will
back to share more crap about this OS.

It's hard to take such a rant seriously when there are a few hundred users of Mint KDE who are very happy with it.

True, but he is right about the background image issue. I'd put in a bug report but there's no link for it that I can see either on the community page, the forums or the two blogs.tdockery97 wrote:It's hard to take such a rant seriously when there are a few hundred users of Mint KDE who are very happy with it.
