dircolors issue

Hi

I currently use Mint 15 Cinnamon and I am getting this error message every time I open a terminal.

/usr/bin/dircolors: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
/usr/bin/dircolors: line 1: `<SearchPlugin xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/browser/search/" xmlns:os="http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearch/1.1/">'

I still get a prompt afterwards but it is annoying. I could not find any dircolor config files and none of its environment variables are set that I could see. The text line that the error is showing is pretty much the first line of every file in /lib/firefox-addons/searchplugins/*. Also, I only get color output from 'ls' if I use the --color flag.

Any quick fix ideas not involving 'sed'?

dircolors comes from coreutils package. I'd try reinstalling it:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall coreutils

Or perhaps you have something incorrect in your .bashrc file, or in /etc/bash.bashrc?
