Hi, I'm not sure if this actually deserves to be listed as "Newbie question" as it may be quite silly..

I was used to ViewNX 2 /Nikon transfer for my Reflex in WindowsXP as well as Photoshop. I'm not a professional photographer so I'm totally OK with GIMP instead of Photoshop. I know that ViewNX doesn't work that well on Wine so I ask you wich program am I supposed to use in LinuxMint instead of these two that I was using to transfer my photos from the D3100 and to adjust them..

Got a D300 and Gimp works fine with the gimp-dcraw plugin.

If you have transferred your .NEF files, you can use Rawstudio or Rawtherapee, check it out.
If you like to build up som HDR-Stuff qtpfsgui may be something for you.
