error message on system updates

Why am I all of a sudden getting the following on update manager ?

Failed to fetch http://packages.medibuntu.org/dists/precise/free/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found

Is this medibuntu.org no longer available and if so, why ?

You can safely remove that repository. It has been discontinued by its developers and is no longer needed: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=146482. It's already not in use on Linux Mint since release 14.
