LAMP Localhost not showing folder copied from windows

Postby QuentinSA » Fri Oct 11, 2013 12:01 pm

Hi,

I only recently moved from windows to LINUX and I love it.
However it is going to take me some time to find my feet.

I have installed latest Linux Mint and latest LAMP.
My PC at work is a windows machine so there I have installed WAMP.
I created a new Webapp on my windows machine and done some development on it.
I copied the webapp folder from my windows machine onto USB stick and then onto my Linux Mint pc under the var/www folder of the Lamp Apache installation.

I can see the folder with all sub-folders and everything, but when I go to http://localhost, it shows everything except the newly copied folder. When I create a new folder on Linux Mint, it shows it when going to http://localhost.

Do I need to set some permission or something?

Thanks for the help.

If you copied a folder into /var/www, then you would need to include the folder in your url path as in

http://localhost/my_added_folder/index.php

And yes you will need to mod the permissions and ownership within /var/www if you want to live-edit files folders.

Hope this helps.

Thanks DataMan,

I thought I had changed the permission but clearly I missed something. I changed all permissions, restarted Apcahe and all is working fine now
