Installing Older Version of an application

Postby BaltimoreBoy » Sun Oct 13, 2013 11:04 am

Is there a way to install an older version of an application.

There is a DVD authoring ap that I like that I am keeping a copy of Mint 9 on an old notebook around for.

It has a successor package (that is actually called by a different name).

Is there any way to point synaptic temporarily to an older repository, and if so is that safe?

Is there a manual method to find the old package and check dependencies?

Is there any tutorial or book that would be useful in understanding how the update process works so that I can tailor things to my own liking?
