Google Earth work around
After having numerous problems with Google Earth on 12, 13, 15, 16 Mint, I decided to not install. I now use Google Maps and have all of the functions I'm interested in and every thing works like a champ. Everywhere on Earth. So long Google Earth!

Re: Google Earth work around
Yes, Google Earth on any linux can be a pain, especially on 64-bit machines. But here's a real workaround that I've used successfully for a while now: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/debian-26/hpw-to-install-google-earth-on-debian-wheezy-4175469584/
