i am using lm 13
with banshee 2.4 it hogs the cpu and is very very slow.
i tried removing the gvfs metadata files it helped a little.
i want to try banshee 2.6 but I can't get it to install using the ppa. nothing happens. all the posts on it are 6 months old and give the same answer which does not work.
any fresh ideas.

Maybe you should try to get the old version working. High CPU on banshee can happen when it's indexing your drive, and this may include the whole drive. I had my filesystem showing in the left pane, deleting it solved the problem.
