no help in caja etc.

Post by wlkl » Thu Jan 02, 2014 10:57 am

whenever I use the help bottom in caja filemanager Caja 1.6.2 i get
[*]
The URI ‘ghelp:user-guide?goscaja-1#goscaja-1’ does not point to a valid page.
[*]This also happens in pluma 1.6.0, however, help in MATE Terminal 1.6.1 works ok
[*] there are many unresolved topics for this problem, however I have installed package gnome-user-guide 3.8.2-1 - to no avail (contrary to one of the posts!)
[*] I have a new installation: SYSTEM INFORMATION; Running LinuxMint Linux, the LinuxMint 16 (petra) release. GNOME: 3.8.4 (Ubuntu 2013-12-05) Kernel version: 3.11.0-12-generic (#19-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 9 16:20:46 UTC 2013) GCC: 4.8 (x86_64-linux-gnu) Xorg: 1.14.3 (15 October 2013 09:23:37AM)

I think the help text was no included in the fork from GNOME 2, for whatever reason. See response from MATE developer on somebody with that same error here: http://forums.mate-desktop.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=356

I also get these errors with Linux Mint 16 MATE for Caja and Pluma, so it's affecting everybody I think. Unfortunate, and I can't grasp why they then don't just remove the Help -> Contents menu completely...
