Syncdrive error

Post by ardashir » Thu Jan 30, 2014 12:08 pm

Hi,

It's my first time on this forum, and I'm a former Ubuntu user and an enthusiastic new Mint Mate fan.

In the past days I've had big problems with Syncdrive. New files on my Google Drive account were deleted and not syncronized with the Syncdrive folder in my Home. Then this message started to appear:

Code: Select all

This application has raised an unexpected
error and must abort.

[45] File or directory does not exist.
FMain.Form_Open.125
I've made a brand new install of Syncdrive and it didn't worked. I've since then made a new install of Mint 16 (before I had Mint 14), but again Syncdrive gived me the same problem.

Now I've deleted it from the computer, but I really need a Sync for my Google Drive account.

Do you have any idea on how to resolve the problem, or on a similar free software available?

Thanks

(excuse my English, writing from Italy)

The problem is that syncdrive tries to access an update file at pear-news.fr which has now moved to syncdrive.fr. Fortunately this is easy to overcome.
Use a hex editor such as Bless (available in Software Manager) as root and open the file /usr/bin/syncdrive. Then replace pear-news.fr by syncdrive.fr in 3 places and save.
Syncdrive should then run correctly.

Stevem, thanks! It worked fine.

Problem solved!

I'm sorry for the intromission... and what if, after the hex editing, i can't save or overwrite the file (it says me that i don't have the permissions) ??

Thanks a lot

@add345:
There are multiple entries of pear.nes-fr in /usr/bin/syncdrive.
Make sure that you replaced all the repetitions.

I've gone through and made the changes from pear-news.fr to syncdrive.fr as listed above, but I'm still getting this same error message.

This application has raised an unexpected
error and must abort.

[45] File or directory does not exist.
FMain.Form_Open.125

I'm noticing that the site syncdrive.fr is "temporarily disabled," and has been for several days. Is syncdrive working for others? Is there something else I can try to get mine working?

Thanks!

I this syncdrive app still even legit. syncdrive.fr looks like it is a french (and possibly fake) Nike shoe website. I wish google would hurry up and release their drive client for Linux.
