How Can I upgrade JRE

Postby irfanhrt » Tue Mar 18, 2014 3:15 am

I want to install Language Tool extension in LIbre Office. For that i want to enable the JRE in Libre Office. I installed java by using the following command
sudo apt-get install libreoffice-java-common
. Then also i couldn't install that extension because the command installed teh old version of the java that is java 1.6.0_30. It seems that i want to upgrade the JRE from java version “1.6.0_30” to 1.7.0_51 to install that extension. How can i Upgrade the Java version?

I think this might be what you want, although the naming conventions make it as obscure as they possibly can so I can't be 100% sure:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/openjdk-7-jre

The architecture specific packages are at the bottom of the page, but all the little red dots above them are dependencies, so if you don't have any one of them (or the wrong version of any of them) then it might not install, you can only try it and see.
