Octave/gnuplot problem doing graphics

Postby bjhkjhkrdjbv » Wed Apr 16, 2014 12:29 pm

This is me trying to do a primitive example plot in QTOctave (same problem in normal octave). Gnuplot is installed.

>>> x=0:0.01:2;
>>> plot (x, sin(x));

gnuplot> set terminal x11 enhanced title "Figure 1"
^
line 0: unknown or ambiguous terminal type; type just 'set terminal' f
or a list

>>> set terminal
error: invalid conversion from string to real N-d array
error: set: expecting graphics handle as first argument
>>> set terminal x11
>>>error: invalid conversion from string to real N-d array
error: set: expecting graphics handle as first argument

Solved. I needed to install an extra gnuplot x11 package. They should consider making gnuplot and that dependencies of Octave. It works without them but misses a very important feature.
