I've been reading more and more about how Google wants our information. I know Bryan says it all the time too. The latest thing with Chrome has got me thinking about this and so does this article. http://www.abcnews.go.com/Business/stor ... 509&page=1 I use Gmail for me email address, I really like it a lot but I'm starting to question if I want them having all my info. So that leads to my question.
How hard would it be to set up my own Linux email server? Are there programs that people could recommend to do this? Can I do it through a normal Cable Modem? Would it be secure? Would it have a webmail type portal to it so I could access it from the road? Is there a good distro for this?
Let me know your guys thoughts on this.

Re: Mail Server, No GMail!
Most ISPs don't let you have your own mail server and block port 25 (heard of spam?)
Furthermore it's highly likely that you don't have a static IP which makes it even harder
I'm not saying it's impossible but...
On the other hand most ISPs have a mail service - webmail or POP mail - I only use the latter...
