Mint 17 RC Observation

Post by patrice4419 » Sun May 18, 2014 5:25 pm

I have now installed Mint 17 RC. Great and works OK. However, a few observations, it takes quite a long time to load and start. Once done, speed is fine with most software. BlueGriffon now no longer starts up (it worked in Mint 16) and gives this message - 'Your BlueGriffon profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccesible'. I followed most of the forums' advice but to no avail. Deleting the .disruptive\ innovations\ sarl directory did not help either. Reinstalling via the Software Manager also did not help. There was a suggestion the software needs installing in the home directory, the Software Manager installs in /usr/lib and /usr/share. Installing from repositories gives the same problem and 'forgets' the icon.
Anyone having the same problem?

patrice4419,

I use Bluegriffon on Mint 13. I have just upgraded to Mint 17rc.

In Mint 13 I had both Bluegriffon and my Website in my home directory. I have just dragged and droped both of them into my home directory on Mint 17 and they both work the same as they did in Mint 13.

I did NOT download a new version of Bluegriffon.

Hi and thanks for your reply. I have solved the problem as follows, wiped all Bluegriffon data and prog (1.7.2) and installed 1.6.2. Ran immediately. No warnings about profile missing etc.
I also installed the tar file in its own directory under home. So solved as far as I am concerned. :D
Mint 17 RC is settling in nicely now - have had few problems with transferring programs and files. Only Bluegriffon failed to start.
Thanks to the development team (or teams) for a great effort. Cheers
