Library Not Linked Correctly?

Postby brando569 » Wed Sep 24, 2008 11:04 pm

I compiled and installed Valknut (a dc++ client) but yet when I go to execute it I get this error:

Code: Select all

bran@ra /home/files/Downloads/valknut-0.3.13 $ valknut
valknut: error while loading shared libraries: libdc.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

bran@ra /home/files/Downloads/valknut-0.3.13 $ locate libdc.so.0
/home/files/Downloads/dclib-0.3.13/dclib/.libs/libdc.so.0
/home/files/Downloads/dclib-0.3.13/dclib/.libs/libdc.so.0.0.1
/usr/local/lib/libdc.so.0
/usr/local/lib/libdc.so.0.0.1

Obviously libdc.so is not there - the question is where is there?
The program is looking for the file somewhere it is not present
(Hidden files a problem? - don't think so)
One way or another you have to figure out where the file is supposed to be

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
