[Solved]Bluefish crash when opening a url?

Post by Mangar »

I am not new to Bluefish, but in old FrontPage a person can open a URL/siteURL and the FP would get a popup to enter connection info to edit the site, and your in.

In Bluefish I command open URL, type in the location and Firefox opens up (white page) and Bluefish disappears like it was closed.?

Is that normal?

I installed it from the Software Manager if that makes any difference?
Running 32 bit Cinnamon 17

Thanks I just wanted to make sure that is was supposed to open up a url and start working. I will try uninstalling it and do it again or use a different install than software manager if it fails again. :| I will follow up on this.

Rename hidden .bluefish folder and start Bluefish again.

nope no good, changed .bleufish to .bluefisp and it made a new .bluefish folder, launch again and disappeared trying to connect to my site opening URL.

Used synaptic manager to uninstall ALL bluefish stuff, then rebooted, and now installing again
mint 17 cinnamon, 32 bit.
ATM it hangs at "

been there to this point 4th time and hangs at same location >5 - 15 minutes walked away and is still sitting at same hang-up?
I even tried firefox tools and triggered an error that that command could not be created?

Any other suggested ways to install bluefish?,thanks
I need to get some stuff done and prefer not to do everything in notepad++ or note pad.

I know bluefish you connect by "places" to ftp and stuff in 2.2.0 but this version 2.2.5 i can not even locate places? I will try down loading a version 2.2.0 when I get home next time.

ATM Bluefish does have issues opening external stuff via its own wiki...but...

Maybe you can shed some light on this question. I am looking to connect to a couple websites hosted on remote servers via FTP
I spent half a day crawling Videos, Bluefishes own wiki, Manual and help stuff. I looked at several other peoples posts asking how to connect to a site via FTP or command lines.

One person stated that is done in places....."places?" .... there is no "places" tab that I found, not even in old versions ?

I am starting to think one has to command line open url like ftp://yoursite.com or http://yoursite.com or ftp.yoursite.com but that is not working either, or are people using bluefish only to ftp on a local server at their own location?
I am really starting to give up on blue fish even before I was able to see what it can do. the only reason I am pushing is I what to get done with a lot of stuff. Thanks :)

I though Bluegriffon was not free of charge, which is not the case, but if anyone else was looking for an editor about the two here is a good read https://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/5 ... ht-for-you

I may have to try bluegriffon but still would like to try Bluefish if I can ever manage it to connect.

[Solved]
Good Lord I found an answer buried deep down in a video on an old version how to possibility do it http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/movies/wo ... files.html
found under screen shots page http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/screenshots.html
