Adding ppa's in LM 17.1 Rebecca

Post by Alejandro24 »

Hi. I updated my system from 17 KDE to 17.1 KDE RC, I did a new fresh install. For now I'm installing software, but I got problems adding PPA's because mostly times I got this message:

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vikoadi/ppa
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 91, in <module>
    sp = SoftwareProperties(options=options)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 109, in __init__
    self.reload_sourceslist()
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 599, in reload_sourceslist
    self.distro.get_sources(self.sourceslist)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/aptsources/distro.py", line 89, in get_sources
    (self.id, self.codename))
aptsources.distro.NoDistroTemplateException: Error: could not find a distribution template for LinuxMint/rebecca
The above one is the ppa for KDE Connect.
Bellow for ppa for Bleachbit and Miro:

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/programs-ppa
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 91, in <module>
    sp = SoftwareProperties(options=options)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 109, in __init__
    self.reload_sourceslist()
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 599, in reload_sourceslist
    self.distro.get_sources(self.sourceslist)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/aptsources/distro.py", line 89, in get_sources
    (self.id, self.codename))
aptsources.distro.NoDistroTemplateException: Error: could not find a distribution template for LinuxMint/rebecca

Code: Select all

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pcf/miro-releases
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/add-apt-repository", line 91, in <module>
    sp = SoftwareProperties(options=options)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 109, in __init__
    self.reload_sourceslist()
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/SoftwareProperties.py", line 599, in reload_sourceslist
    self.distro.get_sources(self.sourceslist)
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/aptsources/distro.py", line 89, in get_sources
    (self.id, self.codename))
aptsources.distro.NoDistroTemplateException: Error: could not find a distribution template for LinuxMint/rebecca
How can I solve this or what should I do in this case?

Hello, Alejandro24.

I assume that you experience a similar problem / the same problem as discussed and solved in this thread: [SOLVED]trying to add repository results mintsources failure.
Note:
That thread was about Mint 17 Qiana, you are on Mint 17.1 Rebecca.
As a consequence wherever in that thread the name "qiana" appears, you should use "rebecca" instead.

What I suspect is that the file /usr/share/mintsources/rebecca/mintsources.conf may either be missing complete or that its content may be incorrect.

HTH,
Karl
