Insert Row is Crashing Libre Office Calc Spreadsheet

Post by yogitoby »

When I try to insert a row on Libre Office Calc Spreadsheet it gives thisd error message vector::_M_range_check and then crashes when I close the message box.

I have tried inserting with a row highlighted (right click then "insert rows above") and with just a single cell active and using the insert tab at the top (click insert, then click rows), the same error message happens either way.

It has quite a lot of data but is far from capacity (doc size 100.7 kB (100,717 bytes) )

Please can you help???

PS This is my first ever post, so please tell me if I have broken any protocol, if possible with a rule number/link.

Many thanks

Hi Toby

Welcome to the Mint forum.

It is always useful to give as much information about your setup as possible. In this instance which version of Mint are you running and also the version of Libre Office

i am really sorry, I have been looking at this every week wondering why noone replied.

I have just realised the replies are uinder the adverts, and someone replied within an hour!

How do I find " which version of Mint are you running and also the version of Libre Office"

and

I have tried it by downloading libre office onto the windows partition and it worked fine there.

SHould I re-install libre office, can I do this on Linux Mint as it is one of the "core" programmes isn't it.

Sorry, I am pretty new to this.

Open up Libre Office Calc and under help look at the last option (about libre office ) and the version is there.

To find out which version of Mint open a terminal and enter the following

Code: Select all

cat /etc/*-release
Yes you should re-install Libre Office. There is a metapackage in the software manager which will install the latest version in the repros which is 4.2.7.2.

If you have a later version on your system then a .deb file can be downloaded from the Libreoffice website.

I used to have problems with LibreOffice crashing on linuxmint.
It turned out that by installing Nvidia drivers it solved my issues.

Thanks so much I have done that and found:

Libre Office: Version: 4.2.3.3
Build ID: 420m0(Build:3)

Linux Mint: DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint
DISTRIB_RELEASE=17
DISTRIB_CODENAME=qiana
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Linux Mint 17 Qiana"
NAME="Ubuntu"
VERSION="14.04, Trusty Tahr"
ID=ubuntu
ID_LIKE=debian
PRETTY_NAME="Ubuntu 14.04 LTS"
VERSION_ID="14.04"
HOME_URL="http://www.ubuntu.com/"
SUPPORT_URL="http://help.ubuntu.com/"
BUG_REPORT_URL="http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/"
cat: /etc/upstream-release: Is a directory

It may seem obvious to you dudes, but I am a bit clueless, should I post this with each forum question, or just shorten it to something like: I'm running "Linux Mint 17 Qiana"
