MySQL APT Repository

Post by MichaelJohn » Fri Jan 16, 2015 6:40 am

I have previously used MySQL on a Linux laptop having installed from the Synaptic Package Manager. To be more up to date I have decided to use the MySQL APT Repository as mentioned on the MySQL website on this Mint 13 laptop. The first instruction is “First, add the MySQL APT repository to your system's software repository list”. However I cannot see how to do this. What am I meant to do?

Thanks in anticipation...

Somewhere in the MySQL instructions there should be a line of code to be inserted into your sources.list.

1. Copy this line of code to your paste buffer
2. Launch synaptic
3. Settings -> Repositories -> Additional Repositories -> Add New Repository
4. Fill in the details
5. Click the "Reload" button after saving your new repository

As a side note, you are aware that Ubuntu is staying pretty current with MySQL current stable through the normal updates.

Hope this helps,
