Gimp 2.6.2 was released recently and the new packages were built for Intrepid (Felicia) on removed. I made a request for the new Gimp packages for Hardy (Elyssa). Today I received an e-mail from João Luís Marques Pinto, the Getded Team Leader telling me the packages had been built! The removed Team does awesome work and I really appreciate them taking the time to make things better for all of us. Here is Gimp 2.6.2 for Elyssa.

yes, it seems to load faster and the gui reactions do seem smoother!

I e-mailed the Team Leader at removed and thanked him. I really appreciated how he sent me an e-mail to let me know the packages were available.

Did you notice that when you clear recent documents for the system it now cleans them up for Gimp too. I like this! Also, the windows for various tools come up where I would expect them to now. This is by far the best version of the Gimp I have ever used.

that's cool that you thanked the team leader. it was very personable of him to e-mail you like he did!!
no, I hadn't noticed that clearing recent documents also cleans up gimp. that's nice!

I have installed Gimp 2.6.2 from removed and would like some assistance if possible.
I had to uninstall 2.4.7 before installation of the new packages and that meant that I also had to uninstall gimp-python.
I have found a gimp-python 2.6.0 on removed but it won't install as it is looking for gimp 2.6.0 and says "gimp is an unsatisfied dependancy"
Should I force install ?

EDIT:- OK found out that gimp-python has now been merged into gimp-data.
