I am loving linux mint it works very well and its pretty easy to use I cant believe how easy it is to use I am visually impaired so I use compiz to zoom in to see my screen and it is a lot better then the $600 windows software. THANKS! but when I go to view any kind of video be it flash, avi, mov it is slow about 2 seconds slower then the audio. If i disable compiz effects it works fine i have tried to playing in vlc and other media players any help is obliged. PS I have a ATI radeon 2400

I am sorry for this but this is a well known bug of sorts in Compiz that does not seem to get fixed.
Luckily it it relatively easy to turn of/on Compiz from the Visual effects tab in Appearences
I fully understand your worries as I have some stepsons with severely impaired vision
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
