evolution-indicator not appearing

Post by marmistrz »

I've installed the evolution-indicator package and rebooted. Even though, the indicator doesn't appear. I'm using Mint 17.1 with MATE.

How can I solve it? Is evolution-indicator incompatible with MATE?

I have the same problem with Linux Mint 18.1 Mate Edition. How can I get Evolution to minimize to the system tray, and to give indications of in coming mail?

I found a solution that seems to work for me on Mint 18.1 Cinnamon, I can't see why it wouldn't also work on MATE.

install this:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install mail-notification-evolution
Go into evolution, Edit menu -> Plugins, and make sure "Jean-Yves Lefort Mail Notification" is ticked
Close the dialog box
Go into Edit -> Preferences -> Mail Preferences, and tick "Indicate New Messages in the Panel"
Close & Restart Evolution
Open the Mint menu, go to Preferences and then Mail Notification. In here, select Add, choose Evolution mail and choose your inbox (if you have more than one). Then Close.

You should now have an icon in your system tray, a colourful icon if there is new email, or an ugly black square if not. Next step is to work out how to change the ugly black square!

Hope this works for you.

Well, I've done all this, but still no mail indicator appears in the system tray.
