where is the screen saver in mint 17 cinnamon

According to software manager I have cinnamon screen saver installed but I can't find it in any of the menus and it doesn't activate ever. If I wait long enough the screen just turns off.

By default the time for the screensaver and for deactivating the display are both set to 10 minutes. Open the energy settings and set the value for deactivating the display to a higher value (or "never"), than you should see the screensaver after 10 minutes.

You can call the screensaver manually by hitting ctrl-alt-L.

Which version of LM do you use?

Thanks, I can call it manually but it still doesn't come on by itself even after changing the display settings and I can't find any settings for the screen saver anywhere. I'm using 17.1 rebecca.

Try xscreensaver, it is better than cinnamon default screen saver.

In LM 17.1 the screensaver settings are in the screen lock (wording may differ) settings.
