Mint is a great distro. However there's about a few hours of browsing and hacking to get mint working the way I want. I had to add some sources for apt to fix some ubuntu problems I was having , another source for cairo dock, searched web for google gadgets.
I hope that this forum post can find out the software mint users use and install after installing mint.

My Mintis allways running after a few minutes, I switch to EVOLUTION, install BLUEFISH [web-editor], IMAGEMAGICK [converting ...] GTHUMB [easy editing for pictures] GNAC [soundconverter] TORCHAT [secure messenger] GRSYNC [for backup].
But the most is ready to work. If I ask my Mint with
Code: Select all
dpkg -l | wc -l
it tell my I have 1536 packages

what kind of problems you had?I had to add some sources for apt to fix some ubuntu problems I was having
I think the most people will not install a lot, because Mint looks pretty completely

Re: what do you use?
ffmpeg suport, cairo dock, google software. fixing my partitions since I was forced to install root with home instead of home on another partition.
