Opera and Flash

Post by Mazate »

Howdy

I've been using Opera lately since its now built off of the Chromium engine and overall it performs pretty well. The one issue I see is that it appears that the regular flash application that you install for Firefox from the software manager doesn't work for Opera. I was curious if anyone knew of another option or plugin that Opera uses for flash?

Opera uses Pepperflash, like Chrome. To install just enter:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install pepperflashplugin-nonfree
Into a terminal, or it can probably be installed from the Software Manager.

Ugh, if I'm reading right, the pepper flash player automatically downloads Chrome too. Is that the case? I hope not because then I can't use it because I don't use or install Google products out of principle.
